Passengers injured after Jet Airways plane skids off runway

Sunday, 28 Dec, 2016 0
An investigation is underway after a Jet Airways plane skidded off the runway at Goa Airport injuring  at least 15 passengers.

The plane was carrying 161 passengers and crew and aborted takeoff on the runway before veering off the tarmac.

It is still unclear why takeoff was aborted, with the airline citing technical problems.

The plane spun through almost 360 degrees before coming to a halt on grass off the runway.

"There are minor injuries, bruises or fractures to 15 passengers. Everyone else was taken out safely," airport spokesman D.K Sharma told the AFP.

"A few guests have sustained injuries during the evacuation process and medical assistance is being coordinated," the airport, which is operated by the Indian Navy, said in a statement.
