Passengers slapped with £2,300 fine and flight ban following punch-up
Three passengers who started a punch up on a Virgin Atlantic flight from London to Barbados have been fined £2,300 and banned from the airline for life.
Virgin said married couple Martin and Zoe King from Coulsdon, south London and Mrs King’s 76-year-old father Derek Edmond from Woodhall Spa. Lincolnshire, would have to find their own way home from Barbados after they admitted causing disruption on flight VS29 from Gatwick.
Cabin crew had to break up the brawl at 30,000 feet after the three passengers started throwing punches at fellow passengers.
More than a dozen officers from Royal Barbados Police Force were waiting for the aircraft, which was carrying 229 holidaymakers, when it landed on the Caribbean island.
Mr and Mrs King and Mr Edmond were allowed to continue their holiday after pleading guilty in court to causing the disruption and accepting a fine of £2,300, but Virgin said it would not fly them home.
