Passengers told to arrive early at Los Angeles International Airport
Travellers flying out of Los Angeles International Airport this week are being urged to arrive early to ensure smooth check in during a major operation to switch airline locations.
About a third of the 70 airlines at Los Angeles International Airport are moving to new terminals or new ticket counters this week in preparation for a major renovation project.
LAX is advising passengers to check with their airline to ensure they arrive at the correct terminal.
Travellers taking international flights are being asked to arrive four hours ahead, while domestic passengers need to arrive three hours early.
Sunday night was the second night of airline relocations, with Aviana, Spirit and InterJet all now relocated.
Delta Air Lines is in the process of moving from Terminal 5 to Terminal 2.
LAX said passengers should check with their airlines’ official website for the most accurate information on the location of their aircraft and advised travellers to check in, print or download boarding passes before leaving for LAX, so they can be aware of the changes and arrive at the correct terminal for their departure.
In addition, passengers are encouraged to arrive earlier than usual, three hours for a domestic flight, four hours for an international flight.
The statement adds: "When arriving at LAX, look up at new signage that will be updated nightly to reflect the moves, and which will identify the new airline terminal locations.
"Finally, passengers are reminded to ask for help if they have problems finding their flights.
"More than 200 volunteers are on hand, many of them in green vests that match a green-wrapped shuttle bus that will run on both the upper-and lower-level roadways to help transport passengers to their correct terminal."
