PATA Travel Mart heading to Langkawi in 2018
The Pacific Asia Travel Association has unveiled the Malaysian island destination of Langkawi as the host of PATA Travel Mart 2018.
PATA CEO Dr. Mario Hardy announced it during last week’s PATA Annual Summit in Negombo, Sri Lanka.
"Tourism Malaysia and Langkawi Development Authority have been a valuable PATA member and partner since 1959 and 2017 respectively. Delegates to PTM 2018 will experience one of Asia’s most remarkable and attractive destinations," said Hardy.
Langkawi is the main island in an archipelago of 99 islands off the northwest coast of Peninsular Malaysia.
PTM 2018 will be hosted at the Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre (MIEC), the largest convention venue in the region.
Dato’ Haji Azizan Noordin, CEO Langkawi Development Authority said: "PTM 2018 is a great honour for Langkawi Development Authority and Langkawi tourism industry players to jointly host this prestigious event with Tourism Malaysia. PTM will further promote Langkawi as an international resort island destination."
Meanwhile, PATA has elected a new executive board which sees Sarah Mathews, head of destination marketing Asia Pacific for TripAdvisor, appointed as chairperson through 2018.
