Pegasus Solutions acquires Wizcom
Dallas-based Pegasus Solutions acquired Wizcom Inc., which the GDS provider says will enable it to provide switch services on an ever broader scale for the hospitality industry, according to John David, CEO and chairman of the board. He said:
“Pegasus provided a breakthrough in the hospitality industry when we first developed the Pegasus switch more than 17 years ago. The acquisition of Wizcom enables Pegasus to continue to provide switch services on an even broader scale for the hospitality industry, and that is something we have advocated since our beginning.”
Wizcom’s product range includes GDS and GDS-related products, Internet Distribution Systems Connectivity and Data Management solutions. As a result of the acquisition, Pegasus will inherit all of these products and will begin integrating the Wizcom business into the Pegasus organization.
As part of Travelport, Wizcom provides technology and distribution services to the hospitality world. Travelport is one of the world’s largest travel conglomerates. It operates 20 leading brands including Galileo, a global distribution system (GDS); Orbitz Worldwide, an on-line travel agency; and Gullivers Travel Associates, a wholesaler of travel content.
Dallas-based Pegasus Solutions, Inc. is a global leader in providing technology and services to hotels and travel distributors. Founded in 1989, Pegasus’ customers include a majority of the world’s travel agencies and more than 78,000 hotel properties around the globe.
Pegasus’ services include central reservation systems, electronic distribution services, commission processing and payment services, and marketing representation services, including a consumer Web site.
