Pegasus trials mobile phone service with 20 hotel customers
Pegasus Solutions is trialling its mobile phone service with 20 hotel partners.
The service, which was unveiled earlier this year following a deal with Mobile Travel Technologies, enables travellers to book hotels via mobile phone and other digital devices.
Pegasus has just enhanced the mobile platform with a facility enabling travellers booking accessing a website from their PC to receive a confirmation text with all the booking details to their mobile phone.
The company is also looking at providing its hotel members with technology to text guests with welcome messages and other marketing information.
There are further plans in the pipeline to provide local hotel information to travellers’ mobiles to help them find the nearest hotel to where they are.
Bookings made using the platform are still relatively low but Pegasus says the customer service side is beginning to get more traction.
Peter Hazel, Pegasus Solutions vice president of product management in distribution services, said: “The ability to book is not the most important part, it’s more about getting hoteliers to think about it as a customer service tool. Bookings will happen in time.”
