Peggy Sue on the way to UK
LONDON – The Greyhound bus, an icon of long-distance travel in America, is about to thunder down motorways in Britain.
FirstGroup, the British rail and bus operator that owns Dallas-based Greyhound Lines, plans to launch budget Greyhound services in the UK next month.
Along with low fares, Greyhound bus services will include leather seats, free wi-fi, air conditioning and complimentary newspapers.
In keeping with Greyhound’s role in US culture, the 41-seat coaches are named after women featured in popular American songs, such as Sweet Caroline, Barbara Ann, Jolene and Peggy Sue.
