New Manager and Industry award for Mar Menor Golf Resort & Spa
One of the first duties awaiting the new General Manager of the InterContinental Mar Menor Golf Resort & Spa in Murcia, Spain, was to accept two prestigious industry awards.
New man Giuseppe Vincelli, who only took up his appointment in March, flew to London to join other top hoteliers and employees of the InterContinental Hotel Group who gathered at the Royal Ascot racecourse to celebrate the Group’s success at the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Awards. A total of 106 winners from the InterContinental Hotel Group’s 651 properties from across the EMEA region.
The InterContinental Mar Menor took titles in two of the top categories – The 2007 Newcomer Award and a Quality Excellence Award. The Newcomer title was given to the best hotels who joined the Group between June 2006 and September 2007 and recognises their commitment to quality and being brand ambassadors.
The Quality Excellence Award acknowledges those hotels who continue to put service and innovation first and whose hard work has earned them results placing them in the top 7% of the Guest Satisfaction Score.
For Italian born Giuseppe Vincelli the Mar Menor appointment is not just a new job – it’s an introduction to a totally new country. This is the first time the 38-year old hotelier has worked in Spain.
Before taking up his position with the InterContinental Mar Menor, Giuseppe Vincelli was at the 5-star InterContinental De La Ville Rome for over three and a half years, firstly as Director of Business Development and latterly as Resident Manager and assistant to the General Manager.
Previously Vincelli was with the Baglioni Hotels Group, which has its headquarters in Milan and is one of the biggest Italian deluxe hotel groups, for over six years. He held a number of senior management positions including Director of Sales & Marketing.
Multi-lingual Vincelli speaks four languages, his mother tongue Italian, fluent English and French and good Spanish.
