Perth-Kuching in new cities partnership
PERTH – A Memorandum of Understanding formalising a strategic marketing alliance between Perth, Western Australia and Kuching, Sarawak is to be signed in Perth today..
Increased competition in the international convention industry is leading to cooperation between competing destinations aimed at helping the partners to win more business.
In a joint statement, the two destinations said, “The main objective of any convention bureau is to increase the number of conferences being attracted to their destination, however, most international conventions are unlikely to return to the same destination for at least 10 years.
“Therefore it makes sense for like cities to develop strategic alliances to share information on conferences they have hosted to give their partner a better opportunity to successfully bid for the event.
“Both Perth and Sarawak stand to benefit from the proposed alliance, with strong staff ties already existing between the pair and the same database system in use in both bureaux.”
The Memorandum of Understanding will detail operational aspects of the alliance and will be managed by two representatives from each Bureau
