Peter Long to run UK’s largest estate agency chain
Former TUI Travel chief executive Peter Long has become executive chairman of the estate agent Countrywide following the resignation of boss Alison Platt.
In a statement, Countrywide said Long, who has been with the estate agent since 2016, will run the business until a new chief executive is appointed.
Platt stood down from the board this week after shares in the company slumped off the back of a profit warning.
Long was appointed non-executive director of Countrywide in February 2016 and took over as non-executive chairman in April that year.
He is also chairman of Royal Mail and non-executive chairman of Parques Reunidos Servicios Centrales, a Spanish theme park operator.
Long was joint chief executive of TUI until February 2016 and he remains a member of TUI AG’s supervisory board. He is due to become vice-chair of TUI AG’s supervisory board next month.
