Pettigrew enlists with Diethelm Travel
BANGKOK – Diethelm Travel Group (DTG) has appointed David Pettigrew as vice president partner development.
DTG chief executive, John Watson, said Pettigrew had a strong track record of achievement in senior management positions “and excellent connections throughout Asiaâ€.
“His appointment will allow us to fast-track our programme of inbound expansion across Asia and beyond.”
Pettigrew is currently Asia-Pacific regional director for the Hogg Robinson travel management group although he will not be involved in corporate travel in his new role.
A well-known figure in the travel industry, Pettigrew started his career in Asia as an officer in the Brigade of Gurkhas.
Since then he has held a number of senior positions and is probably best known as the managing director and founder of Westminster Travel, one of Hong Kong’s largest agencies.
He also spent some time in UK and set up Asiaworld Travel, a tour operator specialising in Asia.
In his new role he will focus on inbound business expansion by identifying new business opportunities for the Diethelm Travel Group in countries where the company does not currently have a presence.
The appointment takes effect from May 1, 2008.
