Phi Phi back on track

Reports from Thailand say that Phi Phi island has taken almost two years to get back on track for the new upcoming high season, but is ready to do business.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand Deputy Governor Juthaporn Rernron-Asa said, “There are 1,800 rooms now available on the island from the pre-tsunami period of 2,200 rooms and while some hotel accommodation owners are still working on their reconstruction or refurbishments, the tall Phi Phi Hotel and the garden themed Banyan Villas are fully open for guests, with one more PP Casita, with attractive flowers and natural wooden stilts, almost fully ready to open as a sister hotel”.

He added, “The good news is really that so many tourists are starting to come back to what they called paradise, before the tsunami hit and they are starting to make it their paradise again”.

Juthaporn is certain that by the end of this year, Phi Phi island will see more European travellers, enjoying stunning views and enjoy swimming, diving or snorkelling at famous beaches or outlying islands, but with the recovery of Phi Phi this time, the TAT Deputy Governor insists that sustainable tourism must be the core words for the new developments.
