Philly campaigns for more MICE
The city of Philadelphia is pitching for more convention business with a new nationwide marketing campaign.
Entitled ‘PHL: Here For The Making,’ the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau has launched the campaign in partnership with city stakeholders including the Chamber of Commerce, Pennsylvania Convention Center and Greater Philadelphia Hotel Association.
According to tourism officials, the aim is to highlight the city as a preferred destination for trade shows and conventions, which they hope will also foster interest in business startups and inbound relocation.
"The first impression people have of Philadelphia is through their visits here for a convention or on business," said Jack Ferguson, CEO of Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau.
"The spirit of innovation in our modern renaissance city is a major reason why people want to do business here, travel here, and live here," he added.
The campaign will be featured in travel and business media online, in print, social media and TV commercials.
It will have a story-driven dynamic with personal endorsements from local business leaders.
In 2012 visitor spending in Philadelphia generated $622 million in state and local taxes.
