Phnom Penh now linked to Istanbul with Turkish Airlines
Following more than two years of planning, Turkish Airlines finally inaugurated on December 12 its Istanbul-Phnom Penh route. The route, planned for 2025, was slightly postponed to coincide with the opening of the Cambodian capital new Techo International Airport.
With this new destination, Cambodia became the 7th country served by Turkey’s flag carrier in Southeast Asia and Phnom Penh joined the network as the 11th city in the region.
Strengthening commercial ties between Turkey and Cambodia and contributing to the economic growth of this emerging market, the Phnom Penh route expands the airline’s Far East network to 20 cities and 21 airports.
First European carrier to Phnom Penh
This new route offers Turkish Airlines’ guests easier access to one of the key destinations in the region and showcase once more the unparalleled connectivity the Turkish flag carrier offers as the only European carrier flying to this destination. Between 2011 and 2013, Air France served Phnom Penh with three weekly services via Bangkok and then Ho Chi Minh City.
Turkish Airlines operates flights to Phnom Penh three times a week, flights from Istanbul to Phnom Penh depart on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, while return flights to Istanbul operate on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Flights have a short stop in Bangkok with traffic rights between both cities.
Commenting on the new route, Turkish Airlines CEO Bilal Ekşi, said: “Adding Cambodia as our 132nd country to our unparalleled network, and the launch of Phnom Penh flights marks a significant step forward in our goal to expand our network connecting continents. Our flights to Cambodia will present new opportunities for both tourism and business. Additionally, as the only European carrier flying to this destination, we will further solidify our leadership in the region.”
As part of its special launch promotion, guests can book tickets until February 10, 2026, for travel until October 31, 2026, with fares starting from 699 USD for flights from Istanbul to Phnom Penh, and 679 USD for flights from Phnom Penh to Istanbul. These prices are available on Turkish Airlines’ official website and may vary at ticket sales offices and travel agencies.
Cambodia boosted air connectivity in 2025
2025 has so far been a good year for air connectivity to Cambodia. KTI airport managed to attract many new flights. Etihad Airways started a daily non-stop service from Abu Dhabi in October.
National carrier Air Cambodia also opened in late October a new route connecting three times per week Phnom Penh to Tokyo Narita via Fuzhou. It inaugurated on December 14 a new route from KTI to Dara Sakor in Koh Kong Province, a beautiful coastal area located in the southwest of Cambodia. Passengers’ traffic in Phnom Penh grew by 15% from January to November 2025.
In Siem Reap, Emirates launched in June three direct services to Dubai with a stop in Bangkok.
