Pilot arrested, Delta flight at Edinburgh cancelled
A Delta Air Lines flight out of Edinburgh was abruptly cancelled after a pilot was arrested for suspected intoxication.
The 61-year-old pilot was detained just 30 minutes before the New York flight was scheduled to take off.
“Delta confirms that one of its crew was taken into custody at EDI Airport. Delta is assisting the authorities,” the airline said.
“We apologise to customers impacted by this cancellation.”
Passengers were reaccumulated.
The pilot was reportedly tested and found to be over the legal limit under the Railways and Transport Safety Act.
“The man was subsequently charged and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal,” Edinburgh Police said.
He is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today.
