Pilot arrested on drink charges at regional airport
An airline pilot is due to appear in court today (Friday) charged with being drunk in charge of an aircraft.
The captain of the Pakistan International Airlines flight was arrested at 10pm on Wednesday evening at Leeds Bradford Airport.
He was due to fly from the airport to Islamabad but was reportedly arrested while making pre-flight cockpit checks on the Airbus 310.
West Yorkshire Police said an airline pilot is due to appear in court charged with "an alcohol-related aviation offence".
Irfan Faiz, aged 54, from Pakistan, is due to appear at Leeds Magistrates Court today charged with "carrying out an activity ancillary to an aviation function while impaired by drink".
According to reports, all 180 passengers on the flight had to disembark and spend the night in a nearby hotel.
