Pilot union leader resigns over inappropriate comments
United Airlines’ pilot union leader was forced to resign just days after being elected.
United Airlines captain Neil Swindells succumbed to pressure to stand down over insulting remarks.
He acknowledged he made ‘colorful, heated, and inappropriate’ comments.
Remarks were deemed derogatory to gay people, women and some minority groups.
Comments were made in a private forum and in some cases were taken out of context, he said.
Swindells’ resignation as United’s pilot union leader followed an earlier apology.
