Plane crashes after lightning strike
A lightning strike caused a Colombian passenger plane to crash on a Caribbean island yesterday.
One person died, reportedly from a heart attack, and 114 people were injured.
The Boeing 737, operated by local airline Aires, was carrying 131 passengers and crew from the Colombian capital, Bogota.
It was struck by lightning as it attempted to land on the Colombian island of San Andres.
According to BBC reports, the plane’s fuselage broke up into three pieces.
San Andres Island is about 120 miles east of the Nicaraguan coast.
