Plane crashes en route to Mexico City
Two people have been critically injured in a plane crash in Mexico.
Aeromexico flight AM2431 crashed shortly after taking off from Guadalupe Victoria International Airport.
It was en route to Mexico City.
Authorities said that of the 97 passengers and four crew on board, 37 were admitted to hospital. Two of them remain in a critical condition.
Governor Jose Aispuro reported in a tweet that there were no deaths and most passengers are understood to have walked from the wreckage of the Embraer 190.
The airport operator Grupo Aeroportuario Centro Norte said bad weather might be to blame for the crash as the aircraft had taken off during a heavy hailstorm.
Guadalupe Victoria airport was closed after the crash.
In a statement, Aeromexico said they ‘deeply regret’ the accident. Brazilian plane company Embraer has sent a team to the crash site.
