Police to get list of all domestic travellers
Airlines and ferry companies will have to provide police and security services with advanced details of all passengers travelling on domestic routes, it has been reported.
In yet another security crackdown, the travel details of 40 million people each year will be passed to authorities, raising more concerns over privacy.
According to the Guardian, new powers are expected to force airlines and ferry companies to provide personal online details of all passengers as they book seats and then check-in at the airport or ferry terminal.
They are said to be in discussion with the travel industry over what documents passengers will have to show before they can board a flight in the UK.
Carriers have said it will add 40 seconds to the normal check-in time of one minute for domestic flights.
