Pre-paid cash card to be sold by Thomas Cook agencies
Thomas Cook is to make a pre-paid travel card from Travelex available across its branch network.
The Cash Passport will be available through the company’s network of 806 high street stores from November.
It gives travellers access to local currency from one of more than one million global Visa ATMs as well as being accepted by Visa Electron merchants.
The Cash Passport Visa card is reloadable for three years and is available in euros, dollars and sterling.
Thomas Cook financial services managing director Mark Nancarrow said: “Ensuring the products we sell to our customer is of the highest standard is key to signing any new deals.
“The ‘holiday wallet’ is an important part of anyone’s holidays and we want to be able to offer the widest range of options for people for when they go away.
“The fact that the Visa card has a truly global acceptance – and the emergency assistance Travelex offers for users of the card – makes this a perfect choice for us to offer our customers.”
Travelex Outsourcing divisional managing director David Sear said: “For sometime now, we have seen consumer interest and usage of prepaid travel cards rise – we’ve now got the right product with the right distribution and we’re confident that we will really see sales of the card rise.”
