Premier Inn outlines expansion of ‘next generation’ hotels
Premier Inn has opened its latest technology-based hotel on Brick Lane in the East End of London.
The opening comes hot on the heels of another newly-opened ‘hub by Premier Inn’ on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile.
The group is also due to open four more properties in the two cities and has plans for more.
Goodge Street is due to open in June, Westminster St James Park in October, and another Westminster location in June 2017.
Meanwhile, February 2017 is the scheduled opening date for a second Edinburgh property, in Rose Street.
"So far the plans only exist for London and Edinburgh, but the concept has even extremely well received and expansion is looking promising," said a spokeswoman.
Billed as ‘next generation’ hotels, hub by Premier Inn properties give guests access to an app on Android, iPhone or Apple Watch to book, check-in, control lighting, room temperature and the Smart TV.
Using the hub app, guests can also see an in-room map with recommendations of nearby restaurants, historic landmarks, museums and galleries.
Rooms are described as ‘compact’ but the latest hub in Brick Lane will also have some ‘hub bigger’ rooms for guests who want more space or who are booking longer stays. These will open later this spring.
The brand’s first hotel opened on St Martin’s Lane, Covent Garden, in November 2014 and was followed by Tower Bridge in December last year.
