Princess Cruises reveals first fully-enabled OceanMedallion ship

Sunday, 28 Sep, 2018 0

Caribbean Princess is the first ship in Princess Cruises’ fleet where all guests are now using a wearable device that streamlines many of the onboard services.

The OceanMedalllion, which can be worn on the wrist, is the same size as a 10p piece and has no visible controls, such as an on-off switch or charging function.

Its features include:

  • streamlined ship embarkation and disembarkation process, giving quicker and easier entry and exit
  • keyless cabin access
  • interactive directions around the ship
  • friends, family and children locator
  • access for guests to check their itinerary via portals throughout the ship

The ship is based in the Caribbean all year round.

President Jan Swartz said: "Having 100% of our guests using OceanMedallion on every sailing of Caribbean Princess is a significant milestone that we are celebrating on the path to fleet-wide implementation."

OceanMedallion was first unveiled last year and will be rolled out as part of a phased fleet-wide activation plan.

Caribbean Princess now also features MedallionNet, which gives guests faster internet streaming speeds equivalent to those on land, said Princess.
