Product set to ‘shake up’ business travel tendering
The product that promises to simplify business travel tendering has found success with a major UK client and has the attracted the interest of TravelMole readers.
As reported by TravelMole last week, ETA is a procurement tool that automates the request for proposal (RFP) procedure undertaken by corporate clients. It is being launched to allow corporate clients with a travel spend over £500,000 to select a travel management company using an online system.
The product is being launched by two executives from the business travel arena: Karen McGee, who once held sales roles at Carlson Wagonlit and TQ3; and Mal Johnson, previously vice president Europe for Rosenbluth International.
Ms McGee, who is managing director said: “I launched ETA because lengthy experience in travel tendering showed me this was a major problem area for buyers and for suppliers. Both sides complain they receive poor-quality information from the other and the whole process is cumbersome, time-consuming and expensive for all parties.”
The ETA tool benefits both buyers and suppliers, according to Ms McGee, by saving time and making sure that submissions contain good quality information. Various suppliers are signed up as “subscribers”, including American Express, ATP International, BTI UK, Carlson Wagonlit Travel and Lonsdale Travel.
Its first customer in the UK is Siemens, which has a UK travel spend of about £20 million according to ETA. It is using the tool to select its preferred TMC, but soon the ETA will be adapted to help corporate clients to select deals with suppliers such as airlines and hotels.
