The Puerto Rico Convention Center in San Juan has opened with 580,000 square foot of space.

That space includes 152,700 square feet of exhibit space, 36,400 square feet of meeting space, and a 39,500 square foot ballroom.

The center is in the Puerto Rico Convention Center District, which is a $415 million, 113-acre retail and entertainment district now under construction.

Tourism officials say a 500-room Sheraton headquarters hotel with another 63,000 square feet of meeting space should open within three years.
