Qantas Group General Manager Sales and Distribution Rob Gurney announced today at ATE 2007 that Qantas would further boost capacity between Brisbane and Los Angeles with the introduction of two additional services between the two cities from March 2008.

He said that said the new services would expand services between Brisbane and Los Angeles from five per week to daily, adding, “A daily service provide customers with additional choice and flexibility, as well as valuable inbound tourism opportunities for Queensland.”

“Passengers travelling from the US will benefit both in terms of convenience and capacity, with more than 800 extra seats available between Los Angeles and Brisbane.”

Mr Gurney said the two additional non-stop services from Brisbane to Los Angeles would operate on Tuesdays and Thursdays using B747-400 aircraft.

He said Qantas would also provide one additional Sydney-Los Angeles service from March 2008, which would take the number of services Qantas offered from mainland USA to Australia to a record 43 per week from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane to Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York.

“Qantas has steadily grown capacity between Australia and mainland USA in recent years and the delivery of the Airbus A380 from August 2008 will provide a significant capacity increase and allow Qantas to explore further network expansion opportunities.”

“These latest additions to Qantas’ Pacific schedule will not only meet demand for Australians travelling to the US, but also provide additional travel opportunities for Americans wishing to visit Australia.”
