Qantas claims victory in fight for the corporate market
Qantas says it is winning the fight for corporate customers in Australia by retaining 84% of the market.
"We are seeing a trend of corporate customers come back to us after trying the alternative.
“In financial year 2013 we won back eight accounts, renewed 111, and secured 84 new accounts. We lost just seven," said CEO Alan Joyce, speaking at the announcement of the airline’s results.
"Qantas Domestic is achieving record customer satisfaction," Joyce said.
"We have refreshed our 767 fleet, increased lounge space and expanded our charter business."
Qantas also revealed new cabins and seats that will feature on its A330 fleet from late 2014 – both domestic and international – including lie-flat beds in business.
"I believe these A330s will offer the best domestic flying experience anywhere in the world," Joyce said.
Qantas was also ahead of the competition with on-time domestic performance, the CEO said.
"In FY13 we beat the competition in 10 out of 12 months – our fourth consecutive annual win.
"And we have won seven out of seven months so far this year.
"The domestic market remains tough – but we are ahead on every measure," Joyce added.
