Qantas defends Choice survey results

Qantas’ Executive General Manager John Borghetti has refused to accept that the airline’s service is not as good as it has been, saying, “I absolutely, categorically deny that.”

He added, “Our cabin crew are the best in the world, there is no doubt about that and they do an exceptional job and especially in the last couple of years our service levels have gone even higher, so I absolutely refute that.”

In the survey, Singapore Airlines was voted top international airline while Regional Express was the favoured domestic operator, with subscribers rating airlines for value for money, booking processes, convenience, the check-in procedure, inflight service, seat comfort, leg room and cleanliness.

Qantas scored 63% and Singapore Airlines voted best airline 78%.

On the domestic front, Qantas scored 67% with consumers saying that the service was arrogant and aloof, with Jetstar scoring 62%, with one respondent saying Jetstar staff were “uniformly surly, unhelpful and most definitely unwelcoming”, with Mr Borghetti saying, “Our research says the opposite.”
