Qantas Expands Regional Network Into South Australia
Qantas today announced an expansion of its QantasLink regional network into South Australia with Dash 8 services, subject to CASA approval, from Adelaide to Port Lincoln and Adelaide to Kangaroo Island from 18 December.
The airline will also introduce weekend direct services between Melbourne and Kangaroo Island.
Qantas Executive General Manager Regional Airlines Narendra Kumar said the airline would provide a total of more than 2700 seats each week on the new routes by operating:
· 58 services per week between Adelaide and Port Lincoln; · Daily return services between Adelaide and Kangaroo Island; and · Four services per week between Melbourne and Kangaroo Island.
To mark the introduction of QantasLink in South Australia, special fares from $59* one way to Port Lincoln and to Kangaroo Island from Adelaide will be available for a limited time. A launch fare of $99* one way between Melbourne and Kangaroo Island will also be available.
“QantasLink is responding to the unprecedented growth in the city of Port Lincoln where the tuna industry is burgeoning along with an increase in building and development, especially along the town’s marina and foreshore precinct.
“The new direct service from Melbourne to Kangaroo Island will provide a new point of access to the international and domestic leisure traveller seeking to explore this increasingly popular eco-destination.
“These new QantasLink services will provide a welcome boost to the tourism sector and offer customers Qantas Frequent Flyer points and convenient transfers to and from the Qantas domestic and international network.
Members of Qantas Club will also be able to access the Lounge in Adelaide,”
he said.
