Qantas increases flights to regional NSW
Qantas announced late last week it would increase services to Armidale and Tamworth, with additional flights to provide the opportunity for an additional 579 passengers to travel to and from the region each week.
Armidale will get a direct service to Sydney and Tamworth’s new flights will depart from Sydney at 7am to arrive in the city at 8.05am.
The return flight for this service will take off from Tamworth at 8.25am, arriving at Sydney at 9.30am.
Qantas regional airlines general manager Narendra Kumar said the additional flights would provide passengers more options when arranging travel to and from Sydney.
“Local residents will have more choice when it comes to their air travel to Sydney,” Mr Kumar said.
“QantasLink will also introduce new early morning services originating from Sydney on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.”
The additional flights also provide greater flexibility for those visiting the region from Sydney, especially those who regularly fly to the region for business.
“These new services will provide customers from Sydney with the opportunity to spend a full working day in Tamworth,” Mr Kumar said.
Mr Kumar said Qantas was currently revising flight schedules to include up to five additional return services on key days throughout the week in order to satisfy increasing customer demand.
“Increased frequencies and an increase in capacity will provide customers with extra opportunities to travel between the two cities, particularly during the peak morning period,” Mr Kumar said.
