Qantas investigates several tyre blow-outs
Qantas has opened an investigation into an unusual spate of tyres bursting.
Four different planes in its Q400 Dash-8 fleet suffered blowouts in just four weeks.
It ordered safety checks on all 31 Q400 planes, 9News reports.
The latest incident last weekend led to passengers circling Brisbane for 90 minutes to burn off fuel before landing.
Qantas says the aircraft can land safely even with a damaged tyre.
The tyre manufacturer is also involved in the investigation.
According to the Australian Transport Safety Bureau, there were just six tyre blow-out incidents in the past year, so four in as many weeks involving four aircraft from the same airline is a cause for concern.
