Qantas must be "bold, brave and change"
Qantas will survive the impact of terrorism and spiralling petrol prices by being “bold and brave and having the courage to change”, Qantas chairman Margaret Jackson said yesterday.
Ms Jackson told the Queensland University of Technology business leader’s forum that airlines had taken a battering in the past five years never before experienced in the industry and need to evolve to survive.
“I think all you know is whatever’s happening around you is changing,” Ms Jackson said.
Qantas needed the “guts and courage” to think ahead, evolve its operations and admit if something wasn’t working and change it, she said.
Qantas earlier this month announced an annual net profit of $479.5 million for 2005/06, a 30.4 per cent decrease on the previous year.
