Qantas raises Oz frequencies
Qantas has added six London-Australia flights a week – and plans more next year.
The increase in capacity – coming prior to Virgin Atlantic entering the kangaroo route in December – means that the Australian airline will add almost 2,300 more seats as frequencies rise from 21 to 27 flights a week.
Qantas will run three of the new flights to Sydney via Hong Kong and three via Singapore to Perth.
The airline plans to add a fourth weekly flight via Hong Kong next year and has approval to provide a further three flights from April 2006.
Executive general manager John Borghetti said the new servives meant that the airline could now offer access to Australia via three points in Asia – Hong Kong, Singapore and Bangkok.
“Hong Kong has been a popular Qantas destination in its own right for a long time and now it will be available as a stop-over destination,” he said.
