QM2 bomb threats
Security has reportedly been stepped up on board the Queen Mary 2 after three bomb threats were received as it docked in Madeira. According to the online news provider Ananova, the head office of Cunard received three warnings of bombs on board; however, after police searches on board the ship and in waters around the port of Funchal, the QM2 was given the go-ahead to dock. The website reports that the ship was given a police escort into the port, and “dozens of security guards” lined the dock, preventing the public from getting too close. The ship has now set sail for the Canary Islands, from where it will cross the Atlantic en route to Fort Lauderdale, in Florida.
