Queensland chases tourists with cheap fuel offer
Queensland is promoting the state’s cheaper fuel prices in a newly launched advertising campaign.
In a bid to encourage interstate motorists to take driving holidays up north ,the State Government is sending the message that they can pay about 10c a litre less for petrol.
“Fortunately, the Beattie Government’s 8.3c a litre fuel subsidy cushions the impact of rising fuel prices for motorists who choose to take holidays in Queensland,” Tourism Minister Margaret Keech said today.
The Beattie Government has been running ads in New South Wales and Victorian metropolitan and regional newspapers to promote driving holidays to Queensland.
Unleaded petrol , running at around 1.22 in Sydney and Melbourne, retails at about $1.06 in Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
