Reborn District Lights Up Downtown Kansas City

Wednesday, 25 Jun, 2008 0

Light Up the Town….The Kansas City Power & Light District has re-energized eight blocks in downtown KC with lively restaurants and nightclubs.

Many establishments opened this spring, and there will be more than 40 when it’s completed later this year. One block features a ring of restaurants and clubs surrounding a covered outdoor courtyard. The KC Live! Stage offers live entertainment more than 150 days a year.

Among the hotspots are Lucky Strike Lanes, a cool, high-tech bowling alley; Howl at the Moon, a dueling piano bar; McFadden’s Sports Saloon, an Irish-themed sports bar; Flying Saucer Draught Emporium, with more than 225 beers from around the world; and Chefburger, a create-your-own burger restaurant. A major component of the district is the new world headquarters of tax giant H&R Block. The area links the Kansas City Convention Center to the west and the new Spring Center to the east.
