Record bookings for Midcounties Co-op
Midcounties Co-operative Travel has reported record booking levels since Christmas – both in agencies and online.
Bookings over the weekend were at a 20 year high with sales of summer 2012 holidays and cruise proving particularly strong.
The travel agency has also seen demand double in its online business at www.cooptravel.co.uk
Despite the tough economic climate, sales of holidays through Co-operative Travel branches have grown significantly from this time last year.
Midcounties Co-operative Travel claims customers are able to trust their brand at a time when some competitors are not looking financially secure.
Alistair Rowland, group general manager of Co-operative Travel said: "There has been significant negative publicity around the financial security of some of our competitors which is clearly working to our advantage.
"Over the years the travel industry has seen a number of financial failures but Co-operative Travel has always stood behind their clients to provide them with peace of mind. I believe that's what the public expect from the Co-op and why they trust us with their precious holiday booking."
Alistair advised that if people wanted specific dates or offers on child places they should consider booking now using a low deposit scheme to help ease payments.
