Regional airport expansion planned by ICE
International Currency Exchange (ICE) is focusing its expansion on the UK’s smaller regional airports after its research showed they are growing at rapid rates.
According to ICE’s new ‘Airport Growth League’, Blackpool passenger numbers have increased by 237% and Southampton has increased by 226% between 1994 and 2004.
Gary Smith, general manager, UK & Eire airports division, said: “The smaller airports have too long been the Cinderella of the strategies of airport supply businesses and that’s something we are now addressing in our bureau expansion.
“Our ‘Airport Growth League’ shows phenomenal regional growth over the past 10 years and is a true reflection of the increasing strength of local economies such as Blackpool and Southampton. We are now committed to building strong relationships and investing in these areas.”
