Relief for fliers as TSA officers set to be paid ‘within days’

Friday, 27 Mar, 2026 0

In just a few days, Transportation Security Administration officers could see their first paycheck in weeks.

The stalemate in funding the DHS continues after countless votes have proved fruitless.

A Presidential executive order has come to the rescue.

TSA officers and other essential workers ‘should begin seeing paychecks as early as Monday’ the Department of Homeland Security posted on Friday.

Hundreds of TSA workers have quit while even more are skipping duty due being unpaid for weeks.

This has led to three-hour plus lines at airports around the country.

“At the direction of President Trump and @SecMullinDHS, TSA has immediately begun the process of paying its workforce,” DHS said on X.

It is a major U-turn by the President who personally blocked a funding deal to pay workers just days ago after a compromise agreement was reached.

It comes ahead of the busy Easter travel period next weekend.

Funding for DHS ran out on February 14, and TSA officers haven’t been paid since.

It is unclear when TSA employees will receive all of their backpay.

After the last government shutdown, it took more than 30 days for TSA workers to receice all their outstanding backpay.
