Reopening of North Korea DMZ tourism zone proposed
South Korean presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung has pledged to restart tourism to North Korea if elected. Lee announced a promise to resume tourist visits across the border to Mount Kumgang as soon as possible.
South Koreans go to the polls in March. Lee also wants to set up a special tourism zone either side of the Demilitarized Zone and develop ecotourism programs within the DMZ. He also wants to reactivate cross-border train routes and roads.
