Reps go on run with tourists’ cash
Two holiday reps are reportedly this morning on the run after stealing cash paid by holidaymakers for day-trip excursions.
According to The Sun newspaper, the two MyTravel reps collected cash from tourists in the Spanish resort of Benidorm before felling with as much as £15,000 and all their belongings.
The newspaper states that MyTravel has alerted police and has already paid compensation to the tourists left out of pocket.
One “tour firm insider” is quoted as saying: “Taking customers’ money is a cardinal sin. One chap I spoke to paid them about £140 for three trips himself, his wife and three kids, to Valencia and a theme park. But they were never booked on the excursion.”
A spokesman for MyTravel is quoted as saying: “We take this sort of matter very seriously – particularly where customers’ money is concerned.”
