‘Resolute’ Brits stick with Spain
Spain and the US have emerged as the most popular destinations for this summer, according to Opodo.
The online travel service has listed the top ten flight and holiday destinations based on bookings for the summer to date.
Majorca is the best selling package holiday destination, while the US is the most popular flight destination. Ibiza and Tenerife make the top five holiday destination list and Spain is the second favourite flight destination.
Top ten holiday destinations: Majorca, Corfu, Ibiza, Kefalonia, Tenerife, Rhodes, Zante, Heraklion (Crete), Gran Canaria, Turkey.
Top ten flight destinations: US, Spain, Germany, France, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Canada, Czech Republic, South Africa.
Opodo UK country manager Neil Mott said the US was a comparatively inexpensive place to travel to due to the favourble exchange rate. Meanwhile, Spain maintains its popularity despite the Madrid terrorist attacks and ETA bomb threats.
“Spain has always been popular and the British public are enthusiastic, resolute travellers so it’s no surprise that they remain loyal to their favourite destinations,” he said.
