Responsibletravel.com has announced it will donate £1 from every booking made through its website to Friends of Conservation (FOC).

Friends of Conservation:
FOC are a charity committed to working with local peoples to develop and promote a balance between their needs and those of the wildlife with which they share their natural habitat and ecosystems.

On the Masai Mara in Kenya FOC involves schools and local communities in projects to help protect their surrounding environment and the wildlife that attract tourists to the Reserve. Friends of Conservation have recently increased their support to preserve the Cano Negro Wetlands in Costa Rica. Home to over 300 species of birds and mammals the wetlands are in desperate need of protection from deforestation and adverse agricultural practices.

Responsible Travel:
In recent weeks Hotel Mocking Bird Hill (Jamaica), Hotel Alexandra (Copenhagen), Venture Co (The Career Gap and Gap Year people), Inner Africa based in Cape Town), Laem Set Inn (Koh Samui), The Sanctuary Retreat (Mission Beach Australia) and Tiamu Resorts (Bahamas) and joined responsibletravel.com as members.

Responsibletravel.com promotes holidays in over 100 countries that benefit local people, and minimise negative social and environmental impacts. Holidays are operated by over 90 supplier members ranging from big brand names, to bed and breakfasts, lodges, or grass roots tribal communities in the rainforest.

Responsibletravel.com screens all its members against responsible travel criteria, requires all members to be transparent around their policies, and independently publishes feedback on the site from tourists.
