Responsible Travel Pavilion, Destinations 2003 Consumer Travel Show
Responsibletravel.com and The Body Shop sponsored the first ever-dedicated area for socially, economically and environmentally responsible travel companies at the Daily Telegraph Destinations 2003 consumer travel show which took place from Jan 30 – Feb 2.
Destinations is the UK’s largest consumer travel show which recorded an attendance of 41,662, 20% higher than the visitor number for 2002.
The Responsible Travel Pavilion hosted 18 travel organisations that represented a wide variety of industry sectors. The companies included a car hire firm, Avis Europe, tour operators; Intrepid Travel, Eco-resorts, The Imaginative Traveller, Baobab Travel, Peregrine / Geckos Adventures, Muir’s Tours, the guide book company Bradt Guides, The Mongolian Ecotourism Society and the charity Friends of Conservation.
In associated with the Responsible Travel Pavilion Anita Roddick, gave a talk on her travels and adventures, focusing on the deep interaction with local communities that travelling allows. Hilary Bradt, from Bradt Guides gave talks on “Giving something back when travelling” when visiting Madagascar and Peru.
