Rising fortunes for ebookers
ebookers has reportedly made payout of nearly GBP1 million to one of its directors, Tani Dhamija – the wife of chief executive Dinesh Dhamija – on the back of some positive results.
According to the Daily Express, the company has stated that the payment of GBP993,000 was in recognition of “her contribution to the restructuring of the UK business after the acquisition of Flightbookers”.
Shares in ebookers rose 13%, climbing 59p to 503p, as the company released an impressive set of results. Adjusted pre-tax profits for the three months to 30 September were GBP1.3 million, compared to a loss of GBP800,000 for the same period past year, with sales rocketing by 86% to GBP144 million and profit margins growing from 11.8% to 12.6%.
Dinesh Dhamija reportedly told the newspaper that there had been a “complete recovery” in the demand for long-haul and mid-haul travel in the aftermath of the war in Iraq and the Sars crisis in Asia.
