Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection’s launch delayed
The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection’s official launch has been pushed back due to various issues at the Hijos de J. Barreras shipyard.
It won’t meet the scheduled February 2020 launch date and will now launch service on June 13, 2020.
"With additional challenges around the former shipyard management, both the new board of Hijos de J. Barreras and the Board of The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection are working cooperatively towards a long term solution for the shipyard," the line said.
Guests with affected reservations can rebook on later sailings in 2020 or 2021 or can apply for full refunds.
The first 298-guest ship will now begin with a week-long cruise from Barcelona to Palma de Mallorca in June.
Ritz-Carlton hasn’t indicated whether the shipyard problems will lead to construction delays in its two other ships on order.
