Robbers smash Kuoni shop front in mistaken raid

Robbers smashed through the front window of a Kuoni travel agent in the early hours of Wednesday morning only to realise it was the wrong shop.

The contents of the agency, which included ‘state of the art’ Apple Macs, were left untouched while an identical hole was made in Garment Quarter, the designer clothes shop next door.

A white Jaguar car was spotted in front of the shops in the upmarket Cabot Circus shopping complex in Bristol around 2am and thieves made off with around £20,000 worth of designer goods.

Both shops in Penn Street were cordoned off by police as they investigate the robbery although the Kuoni agency hoped to re-open for business today (Thursday) once the shattered glass has been cleared.

Derek Jones, Kuoni managing director, said: "It’s a shock when anything like this happens but thankfully nobody was hurt and nothing was taken from the store so we’ll be back up and running and open for business as soon as soon the police have finished their investigations, which should be tomorrow."

In a Twitter post, Jones joked: "Crimewatch Update: Robbers escaped with a brochure… Police reckon they’ll be back in to book today."

Kuoni added that a new glass front for the store should be ready in a week or so.
