‘Robust’ cross-border growth in Asia Pacific travel
There is ‘robust’ cross-border travel growth in Asia Pacific, says activities booking platform Klook.
Speaking at this week’s Arival Activate event in Bangkok, Klook’s Wilfred Fan, highlighted significant growth in the travel experiences sector in APAC, especially cross-border.
“Overall, the travel industry is powering forward and we are seeing robust cross-border travel growth – as our bookings have more than doubled since pre-Covid levels.”
“The Asia growth story is surprising people each day.”
Klook has found that most major destinations in Asia have achieved full recovery, returning to 2019 levels.
Japan has been the top inbound destination for the past three months, according to Klook.
It says demand has been mostly driven within Asia.
The main source markets are South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore.
Yet, labour shortages are somewhat hampering the growth.
“This is even more so for the experience industry, people are the asset and crucial to how an experience is delivered,” Fan said.
