“Rod Eddington might leave”

Wednesday, 09 Jul, 2004 0

Stockmarkets may or may not be affected by the weather, but the performance of travel and tourism shares yesterday shared many things with the climatic conditions being experienced in London.

While the FTSE 100 index gained 22.7 points to close at 4381.1, the FTSE 250 dropped 32.2 points to finish at 6088.2.

British Airways was representative of many industry shares, dropping 7.5p to end the session at 254p.

The Guardian quotes the Dutch broker ABN Amro as taking a more cautious view of the stock, given that “competition on transatlantic routes remains fierce, the company still has to reach an agreement with staff over costs, and its chief executive, Rod Eddington, might leave”.

EasyJet also had a wash-out of a day, dropping 5.25p to close at 146.5p.
