Rosen resort books one million rooms prior to opening

The new Rosen Shingle Creek resort in the heart of Orlando’s tourist area booked nearly 1 million rooms before it opened its doors.

“That speaks volumes for the growth of the meetings industry in Orlando,” said Bill Peeper, president of the Orlando/Orange County Convention & Visitors Bureau.

The 1,500-room new resort is home to one of the country’s largest column-free ballrooms. At 95,000 square feet, it is the size of one and a half regulation football fields.

Rosen Hotels & resorts is the largest independent hotel company in Florida with seven properties and resorts representing 6,300 rooms or about 6% of the area’s total rooms.

The resort on a 230-acre setting also has a David Harman-designed championship golf course, 13,000 square foot spa and nine lounges and restaurants.

The resort has a total of 445,000 square feet of meeting rooms.

Guest rooms with 436 square feet of space are among the largest in the area.
